Both coaching and therapy have the intention of creating a space for you to feel secure, seen, and understood. The goal is for you to be vulnerable in reflecting on your experiences so you can heal, learn, and grow.
The biggest difference between coaching and therapy is that therapy may include a diagnosis and a specific treatment plan. As a coach, I am not a licensed mental health professional, and I do not offer any diagnosis for you or your child. Therapy tends to support clients to delve into their past and make sense of their memories and challenging experiences. Coaching does access some past experiences but focuses on the impact of the present and action steps for the future.
As your coach, I will always listen openly, with curiosity and non-judgment, to anything you share. If you share something outside my scope, I will let you know and work with you to find additional support if that’s your desire. My past clients who have also been in therapy tell me coaching is a great compliment to therapy.

I can speak from my own family experience: you doing this work will have a positive impact on your children.
You become a leader and role model in your family, without having to do any explicit teaching to your partner or co-parent.I will share supportive perspectives and strategies to help you make the most of this program without causing additional tension or stress in your adult relationships.

Yes!
Focusing on your personal growth as a parent “works” with children of any age, even adult children.
The parenting relationship never ends; it changes.
Whether you are planning your family, you have a toddler crawling around, or a teen grabbing car keys… parent coaching will support you to show up for yourself first, which supports how you show up as a parent.

Great question, and I’m glad you noticed my favorite topic!
Your nervous system is essentially the control center for all of your brain’s and body’s functions, everything from how often you blink to what you tell yourself when you lost your phone.
As a parent, your own nervous system influences your parenting behaviors.
Your child’s system is also influencing theirs, so when you can view your parenting interactions through a nervous system lens you are gaining clarity in how you see yourself and your child.
-
This depends on many factors: your level of awareness and your commitment to daily intentions and reflections.
It’s a lot like going to the gym: if you follow your personal trainer’s program you feel changes within yourself first, and with time you’ll see changes on the outside.
With my program you’ll notice your own energy, perspective, and reactions change first. With time and practice you’ll observe changes in how your children respond to you, how you communicate with your family, and how your whole family dynamic is shifting.
There is no set time frame, and it’s not a linear path. You can expect ups and downs, and in the long term you’ll see the change you are looking for.

The group program is a set length; and I do offer individual sessions as well.
For that I recommend starting with 6 sessions scheduled at a regular frequency. After that, we can set up a plan for ongoing maintenance.

Hi there! I’m Allyn
I'm a Master Certified Parent Coach and the founder of Child Connection.
After a stint in corporate accounting and a decade in early childhood classrooms with my master’s in early childhood ed, I found my true calling: helping parents achieve lasting success in their parenting goals.
I’ve completed my certification at the Jai Institute for Parenting;
I’ve completed coursework in interpersonal neurobiology with Dan Siegel;
and I’m a graduate of SmartBody SmartMind with Irene Lyon.
I see parenting as one big, ever-changing experiment. By embracing this mindset, I've learned to lighten up on myself and show my children that mistakes are just stepping stones to growth.
I try to embody my three core values – Acceptance, Curiosity, and Joy – in every aspect of my work.
With that, plus a healthy dose of humor, and a knack for breaking down complex concepts, I help parents navigate their unique journeys.
