Empowering Parents:
My Journey as a Parent Coach

A smiling family stands together on a sandy beach, wearing casual white and denim outfits. Allyn Miller embraces her supportive partner and two happy children, radiating warmth and connection.

Hey there!

I'm Allyn (pronounced "Allen") a Master Certified Parent Coach and owner of Child Connection. My path to becoming a certified parent coach is as unique as the families I serve.

After a stint in corporate accounting and a decade in early childhood classrooms with my master’s in early childhood ed, I found my true calling: helping parents achieve lasting success in their parenting goals.

I’ve completed my certification at the Jai Institute for Parenting, coursework in interpersonal neurobiology with Dan Siegel, and I’m a graduate of SmartBody SmartMind with Irene Lyon. But my key education doesn’t stop there.

I've faced my own parenting challenges: working to restore past disconnections and create more secure relationships with my children. This personal journey allows me to deeply connect with parents who are striving to do the same.

My parenting philosophy is rooted in four core values:

  • safety,

  • kindness,

  • freedom,

  • and fun 😆

I see parenting as one big, ever-changing experiment. By embracing this mindset, I've learned to lighten up on myself and show my children that mistakes are just stepping stones to growth.

With a healthy dose of humor and a knack for breaking down complex concepts, I help parents navigate their unique journeys.

My clients appreciate my listening skills and practical approach to building parenting confidence.

When I'm not celebrating "aha" moments with families, you'll find this chocoholic mama enjoying lakeside strolls or cozy movie nights with my own crew.

Curiosity

One of the beautiful things in life, y’all, is that there is always more to learn! I'm constantly exploring - be it personal growth, parenting tricks, or checking my own biases. Let's stay open to new possibilities and keep connecting those dots together.

Joy

Life's a rollercoaster, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the ride! I'm all about finding and celebrating those little wins along the way. Let's boost your parenting confidence by savoring the sweet moments, big and small.

Just between us: my quirky side

Brownies are a guilty pleasure and a source of pride. Maybe because they are the only dessert I can (successfully) bake from scratch 😝

I’m left-handed because when I was 3 years old, I jumped off my bed and broke my right arm.
Guess you can rewire your brain after all!!

Even though as a kid I loved ballet class – I kept it a secret from ALL of my friends at school. After all, I was a tomboy who wore t-shirts and sweatpants every day.

A joyful figure with flowing, vibrant hair dances energetically against a soft, warm background, embodying connection and confidence in parenting. This illustration reflects the compassionate support of a certified parent coach.

I had 5 first jobs before my first “real” job: teaching swim lessons, lifeguarding, selling Cutco knives, waiting tables, and working in a tanning salon.

My favorite vegetable is the artichoke - with garlic mayo for dipping, of course!

I can cross one eye at a time.

Allyn’s fun-loving nature helped develop a good relationship with her as my coach.

“Before working with Allyn I had little understanding of how to deal with my children if they melted down or didn't want to do something. Her fun-loving nature helped develop a good relationship with her as my coach.

Now I have a much greater understanding of how my kids operate cognitively and emotionally. I am much more accepting, without catastrophising, of how my kids are at this moment. I'm able to connect with them more easily, as I'm not trying to push them to be who they are not. I also have a keener understanding of my own emotional state and trigger points.”

So, how did I get here?

Trying to reach my own parenting goals

A nurturing scene featuring a caregiver in a stressed position, surrounded by two children, all drawn with soft, flowing lines. The warm colors evoke a sense of safety and connection, embodying compassionate parenting.

What is a "good" mom?

You guys, I used to think I had it all figured out – but holy guacamole, I had a lot of learning to do.

Early 2014:

I’m a toddler teacher with two young kids and a traveling husband.

Many nights, I end up slumped in the hallway between my screaming daughter and my crying son. What the eff am I supposed to do but turn into a puddle of tears, too?

Forget my master's in early childhood education or that I’m a capable, educated, resilient, grown-up.

I can’t get through a bedtime routine without unleashing an inner beast of mythological proportions.

Fast forward to summer 2020:

Lightbulb moment!

Humans have feelings. Lots of 'em.

Was I the only 80s kid who thought "fine" was ideal? Nobody taught me how to feel feelings or why it mattered.

A vibrant lightbulb illustration with orange rays emanating, symbolizing ideas and connections. This image conveys warmth and optimism, reflecting Child Connection's mission of cultivating understanding through online parenting programs.

That year, I became a certified parenting coach through the Jai Institute for Parenting.

Now, armed with science-backed tools, I'm the mom who stays steady during "I hate you!" tantrums and knows exactly why I say yes to another deck of Pokémon cards but no to boredom-fueled donuts.

I learn how to connect to myself, understand my children, and make choices that honor our family values.

And now, y’all, I'm here to help you achieve your parenting goals, too.

Using what I've learned about untangling reactive patterns and reigniting my sense of self, I'll guide you to parent the way you want... the way your children deserve.
